With this plugin you'll be able to define custom metadata for each of your articles:

The metatag you can define are:

HTML title, so you can specify a title for the Joomla! article and an HTML title for the serach engines
meta description, you can use the metadata configuration of Joomla! or this plugin, the only difference is that, for example, if an article is a menu item the native Joomla! system doesn't give that page the article's description
meta keywords, same story
canonical URL, useful for duplicated URL and/or content, you can define a unique URL for duplicated pages
meta generator, you can define a custom generator for each article, or a default generator for every article, or to eliminate the generator metatag, ...

But...how does it works?

Simply type in the editor of your article these (without '*'):

{*metadesc:My description metatag}

{*metakeys:my keyword1, my keyword2}

{*metacanonical:www.canonicalurl.com}

For example I've specified the metatitle "Custom meta tags Joomla! plugin" for this page using:
